Accessible Hunting - WITH CHRISTCHURCH HELICOPTERS
In the high
country, Upper South Island's Hanmer Springs area and the Red Deer/Chamois/Wild
Pigs/Ducks/Canadian Geese hunting in the high country are unmatched. We've been
hunting in this area for X years, so we're well-versed in the areas where game
animals congregate and their seasonal migrations.
Trophy
hunting for chamois is world-class in this area, and the chamois bucks here are
among the best in the world.
Blocks of Land That Can Be Hunted:
It is
possible to hunt red deer and chamois on Department of Conservation (DOC) areas
in North Canterbury (Kaikoura), Marlborough (Marlborough), Clarence (Clarence),
West Coast (West Coast). Christian Helicopters, business as Amuri, holds a
permission to access DOC property under the name of CHRISTCHURCH HELICOPTERS.
An access
permit for St. James Station has been granted to Helicopter Hunting Tours NZ. Red deer,
chamois, wild pigs, Canadian geese, ducks, and brown trout are just a few of
the many wildlife species that may be found on this expansive piece of
conservation property.
Canada goose
and duck populations are high in the river basin areas where huts or bivvies
are often available, although fly camping is also an option.
A DOC
hunting licence is necessary for all hunters on the Department of
Conservation's territory, which includes St. James Station. A fishing license
is required if you want to fish in the rivers and lakes. Mountain radio and/or
personal locating beacons should be carried by everyone in the group (PLB).
